Four coloured panels light up in a sequence and you repeat it back. Each successful round adds one more step, so the sequence grows until your memory gives out. Most people plateau somewhere between eight and twelve, and the reason is interesting — you stop remembering colours and start remembering a rhythm, which works right up until it does not.
